Shabbat Olam haBah

Shabbat is a break from society, allowing for a critical distance as well as a replenishing of the self. It functions as a weekly re-adjuster, that constantly reinvigorates human life, reminding Shabbat experiencers of their transformative, progressive role in society as a whole by actively experiencing a foretaste of utopia. We still do not live in utopia, and we can only taste it, hoping to return to society, slightly improved, slightly closer to human values and enthusiastic to transform the world. Olam haBah or the World to Come has been interpreted in many ways, from a mystical timeless transcendent space to an actual material future that is within our capability to shape and create. SHIUR will be presenting an immersive, multi-sensory Shabbat experience oriented towards giving a textured foretaste of Olam haBah.
